Once you find a primary school whats next in terms of checking them out and
seeing how good they are ?

I've called up and someone will be calling me back about a "chat" and
joining them.

I've called up and someone will be calling me back about a "chat" and
joining them.

(1) Visit - there's a lot to be said for going on an organised
visit with other prospective parents because some of them will ask
questions that you haven't thought of

(2) Look at the http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/ - I would treat OFSTED
reports with some caution and a report that criticises the school
shouldn't necessarily put you off, especially if it's not very recent.
Still, OFSTED reports give you some idea about the school

(3) If you can, talk to somebody who already has a child at the
school. Remember, though, that your son's different from their child:
ask what their child likes and dislikes about the school
