#2 came to me and asked for a sweet. (from her box of celebrations she got
for Christmas, living on top of the fridge freezer) I said no, so she asked
if she could "hold the box".
I turned round to look at her and said "No! What do you think I am?" and she
replied promptly with an angelic smile "nasty!"

My son's developed this habit of asking if you want a sweet when he
wants one.He must think he's more likely to get one if they're being
dished out generally.

When my daughter was about four, she was clearly feeling in a loving mood.
She turned to Daddy and said, "Daddy, you are the best daddy in the whole
wide world." And then, "and H, you are the best little brother in the whole
wide world." And lastly, "and Mummy, Gemma's mummy is the best mummy in the
whole wide world!"
I know where I fall within the hierarchy...!
